Google Earth Pro, formerly a commercial application that cost a number of dollars, is now available as a standalone freeware application.
In research programs, coursework requirements must be fulfilled before the thesis is drafted. A master's program has 3 coursework sessions and 3 thesis sessions. A doctoral program has 6 coursework sessions and 6 thesis sessions. A degree is conferred after all. Starfish Learning Center is a non-profit after school program in the North Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. SLC has been a safe haven for troubled and at risk youth in the community since 1997. In addition to providing homework help, SLC also teaches students life skills and moral values.
With Google Earth Pro, all users are now allowed to access high-quality and high-resolution aerial photography and ground images through Google's award-winning Earth program. The application provides a number of tools including zooming in and out, tilting, panning and different ways to access images and data. You can also check out the flight simulator tool included within.

Included with the bird's eye view of the planet, Google Earth Pro also provides a number of different tools and layers for exploring our green planet. You can use the application to view cityscapes, tourist attractions, natural wonders and explore cities across the planet.
One cool feature worth mentioning is the ability to import site maps, property lists, etc. You can also use Google Earth Pro to export images in high resolution for documents or web sites.
Google Earth Pro can also import external data from GPS devices with relative ease.
Overall, Google Earth Pro is a competent and professional application made available now for free.

To arrange for your program please begin by emailing Carol Hockett. Preparatory materials will be provided. Sessions (30-45 minutes each) can be held live on Zoom or Google Meet and be taught by Johnson Museum education staff.

The Art of Storytelling

Works in the collection with special stories such as the Buddha and Naga and the Three Laughers of the Tiger Glen will be featured as well as the traditional telling of a Japanese folk tale and guidance on the creation of your own Japanese kamishibai theater.

The Many Faces of Masks
(Grade 3 and up)
The fierce face mask of the samurai and the soaring forms of the antelope chiwara headdress will both be featured in this session which includes ideas for mask-making with materials from home.

This Japanese noh drama mask is made of carved wood, plaster, lacquer, and paint. It would be worn in performances of musical dramas based on tales from traditional literature.

From our collection
Margaret Bourke-White graduated from Cornell in 1927. Her photograph led a feature story for LIFE Magazine documenting the devastation of Louisville, Kentucky, by Ohio River flooding in 1937.
Excavating Ancient Egypt
(Grade 5 and up)
Learn about mummification and explore objects from ancient Egypt including a worker figurine and amulets that would have helped provision the deceased for the afterlife. Each session includes hieroglyph-making activities.

This Egyptian shabti is from 380–342 BC, a small human figure representing a person who would perform a given task for the deceased in the afterlife. It’s about eight inches tall and made of a glazed ceramic known as faience.
